CWMS 2.7.2074B-AE Turn off Maintenace request is blocked

Hi,

I have upgraded my CWMS 2.5.1 to 2.7.1.2074 and now I cannot get it out of maintenance mode.

I only get a pop up message saying my Request has been blocked with error code: nms0-ms1-hms2-ls0.

See attached screenshot.

I have rebooted by CWMS server numerous times but cannot get it out of maintenance mode.

Any ideas as this is my lab webex system I do not have support on it.

Best Regards

Hi Hermanus,

Can you share the steps you took to update to 2.7.1.2074?

On what version you were originally and how did you update?

-Dejan

Hi,

Yes my lab webex had to be redone as I lost some hardware.

I installed webex2.0.1.ova first.

Upgraded to 2.0.1MR3 then upgraded to 2.5.1.

From 2.5.1 I upgrade to 2.6.1.039 and did my disaster recovery. (Last backup was done on this version.)

Then I upgraded to 2.7.1..12 and from there I upgraded to 2.7.1.2074.

Best Regards

You can't update from 2.7.1.12 directly to 2.7.1.2074. You have to update to 2.7.1.2048 (2.7 MR2), and then apply 2.7 MR2 Patch 4 (2.7.1.2074).

If you have a snapshot taken on 2.7.1.12, revert to that snapshot, and then update first to 2.7.1.2048, and then to 2.7.1.2074.

-Dejan.

I did not see that in the upgrade documentation or did I miss that?

Thanks.

Best Regards

Normally, Readme file of the Patch is listing pre-requisites for minimum version required.

http://www.cisco.com/web/software/284536950/133565/cisco-webex-meetings-server-2.7.1.2074.B.readme.txt

Necessary prerequisites:

You must install the Cisco WebEx Meetings Server version 2.7 MR2 (Build 2.7.1.2048)
or higher before applying this patch.

For CWMS, the following rules apply:

1. Maintenance Releases are cumulative and can be installed on top of the base version they were issued for (e.g. 2.7 MR2 can be applied on 2.7 base or later version. You don't need to update to 2.7 MR1 first and then 2.7 MR2).

2. Patches are cumulative and can be installed only on top of Maintenance Release they've been issued for (e.g. 2.7 MR2 Patch 4 can only be installed on top of 2.7 MR2 and any earlier patch like 2.7 MR2 Patch 1 or so)

3. As for going to a major release, you would need to check the Administration Guide and update paths for the proper order (http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/collaboration/CWMS/2_7/Administration_Guide/cwms_b_cwms-administration-2-7/cwms_b_cwms-administration-2-7_chapter_01000.html#reference_F85B0BD4176D46F035551C3AAB56113F)

So, for example if you need to update from 2.6 MR1 to 2.7 MR2 Patch 4, you normally would need to do the following:

1. Check 2.7 Administration Guide (link included above) and confirm that from any level of 2.6.x you can update to 2.7.1.12 so that is the first update you would do

2. Then, before you can got to 2.7 MR2 Patch 4, you would need to update to 2.7 MR2. Based on the fact that MRs are cumulative, you would update straight from 2.7 base to 2.7 MR2 version level.

3. Finally, you would need to apply 2.7 MR2 Patch 4, as Patch 4 includes all the fixes in patches 1,2, and 3 and some additional fixes.

I hope this clarifies the normal processes when it comes to updates.

-Dejan
