Migration from MGCP to H.323

Hello All,

As I'm new to Voice Communication, I almost don't know anything about it.

Our Voice network is running on CUCM 8.6, and gateway Router using MGCP with 2 PRI lines, now we brought new ISR4331 with voice bundle Router which does not support on CUCM 8.6 platform. My query is can we register our new ISR4331 with H.323, if we add Gateway on H.323 protocol, do we need to modify any other configuration in CUCM to our voice network work..

Thanks.

Use SIP instead of H323 to control this GW, there is no need to change anything else on the system as each GW can be controlled via different voip protocols.

Hi,

Yes, you can add it as an h323 gateway or terminate a SIP trunk on it as per your requirement. There is no special config needed on cucm for this, you can reference the following link to configure the same
