10 gig SFP's for Cisco UCS Mini

We have a Cisco UCS 5108 AC2 chassis that currently has 4 x 1 gig SFP's for networking.

We managed to acquire a 10 gig ethernet switch so assumed we could buy a couple of 10 gig SFP's and away we go.

I've been told by my reseller that there are no 10 gig copper SFP's...the ones they provide are optical...which is no use if I want to use my 10 gig switch.

So is this true, can you not get 10 gig copper SFP's with RJ45 connectors for a UCS Mini so you can use a normal 10 gig copper ethernet switch?

Any advice would be appreciated.

I do not see a 10G Base-T (Copper) optic. You would need to use fiber or twinax to make 10G connections.

Ok...forgive the ignorance but how would I then connect 10 gig fiber SFP's to a ten gig ethernet switch?

The switch is just a standard RJ45 connector switch.

If you do not have a 10G fiber switch, you might be able to connect a 10G copper port on the switch to a GLC-T (1G Copper SFP) on the UCS Mini and downgrade the speed to 1000 MB if it is supported. This will establish connectivity, but only at 1G speed.

Otherwise, you would need a 10G fiber switch or a 1G Fiber/Copper switch.
