hi,

was trying to search and find a way to alert in solarwinds NPM if active ASA FW did a failover to standby FW?

i only find this.

https://supportforums.cisco.com/document/7336/snmp-mibs-and-traps-asa-additional-information#Failover_pair_information_on_the_ASA_

can someone advise what specific snmp trap/commands i need to put on the ASA?

i currently got the below SNMP configured. is there any other 'special' SNMP trap i should enable?

snmp-server enable traps snmp authentication linkup linkdown coldstart

Hi John,

As far as I am aware of, Failover event is not one of the available option for in the SNMP configuration.

As an alternative could be, actually, configure the SNMP Server to poll information for the Failover State, below is the Object name and the OID:

Object:  cfwStatus

OID:     1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.147.1.2.1

In addition if you "snmp-server enable traps syslog" enabled in configured, you have also enable "logging history <level>" on the ASA, and monitor the syslog messages 104001 and 104002.

hi,

thanks! do you have a link supporting this?

syslog is not an option as it's not a primary monitoring tool.

i only need an alert to be monitored or viewed in solarwinds NPM.

Hi John,

I will check for that and if I find one I will share the same.

Regards,

Aditya
