ICS 7750 Failover

Hi,

We have a system where there is one ICS 7750 with

VG200 gateways and a Cisco 36xx router as gateways

with three voice T1 termination.

Problem:

Primary SPE failed and the Secondary took over. Then the Primary came back as Seconday. Works as expected.

But all the Dial-Peer statements in the 36xx were pointing to the Primary IP address. So all the DID call which came from Voice Ts busy out. And also in all the VG200s they were pointing to the Primary SPE IP. So we manually change all the IPs in the Dial-peer and in VG200s to the Secondary SPE's IP.

Question:

Is there a way to automatically do this when the Primary fails and the Secondary takes over and vice-versa.

Thank you in advance.

You betcha! What you need to do is quite simple. #1 You need to duplicate your dial peer statements #2 Add a preference to the dial peers. See my example and I'm sure it will make more sense.

dial-peer voice 1 pots

destination-pattern 1111

preference 1

port 1/0/0

dial-peer voice 2 pots

destination-pattern 1111

preference 2

port 1/0/1

Dial peers work in top down fashion and will keep searching for a match if the 1st one fails!! Good luck.

Thank you.

I will try that. Have a nice weekend.

Also, there is a good note on how to do this at the following URL:
