Changing System Prompts

Unity 3.0(1)<br><br>The customer would like to remove some caller input options on system prompts. Under 4 (Setup Options), you have the option to 2 (Change Call transfer). They would like to remove the ability for users to change call transfer via a phone. <br><br>Also under Message Settings, you have the ability to select caller input to change message notification you have the ability to do the following.<br>1.) Pager<br>2.) Home Phone<br>3.) Work Phone<br>4.) Spare Phone.<br><br>They want to remove option 2,3,4. <br><br>Thanks. <br><br>

unfortunately you can't customize the subscriber conversation to meet the customer's tastes like this currently. It's not possible to simply remove prompts and the like to get the conversation to not offer specific menu items.

It'd be pretty cool to be able to do such things but that's a reasonably tall order from the conversation side of the house. It'd either have to be custom conversation development or options would need to be added to the COS to restrict certain menu options/branches.

Would this also answer the question I was going to ask about whether support currently existed for changing the Unity keystrokes for playing messages, keeping messages, etc. to match our current system (Centigram - ugh) where you press "P" (7) to play messages, "d" (3) to delete them, etc...

Perhaps you've already thought of this, but you could use a restriction table to prevent users from changing their transfer options over the phone. If you implemented a restriction table that blocked all dialable numbers, then users who access the transfer conversation wouldn't be able to change their transfer number.

You can do the same for notification devices, however you would not be able to allow users to change the number for some devices and not others. Unless of course their is a common pattern in the pager phone numbers which you could allow, and then disallow all other numbers.

Currently there’s only one alternate conversation option you can enable and it’s patterned (roughly) after Audix conversation types. This only affects the key strokes active during message playback and the after message menu, it doesn’t affect the entire message stack or subscriber conversation.

However, it’s probably not what you’re looking for since Centigram is quite a bit different than Audix or Unity for that matter. It’s not as simple as editing the conversation INI file referenced in those posts since there are a number of new prompts that need to be recorded (in a bunch of languages) and installed to match the new menu options that would be active.

Ping your local friendly account manager to ask for such work to be done (it’s not trivial but it’s not a huge amount of work either). Also, if you can email me a complete set of options available during and after message playback for the Centigram version you’re using I could eyeball it and see how much work it would be or if there are any gotchas that we couldn't deal with (i.e. features they map to that Unity doesn't support).

OK. I understand your ability not to change input options. However, I have been asked this question and wanted to have the experts reply.

During subscriber setup when they are prompted to record first--last name, If the subscriber does not select # they will have "Dead Air" until the max record length time is met. I know you can set this parameter to be less. What I was wondering is why Unity doesn't prompt you during subscriber setup to "Record your First and last name. Then press # to continue."


Is there a way to have unity to prompt you to select # like it does on a few other system prompts.

Any suggestions???

Not sure I get what you're asking here... what do you mean changing to "read the user input"? Caller input is programmable for all call handlers and subscribers, you record the greeting for the handler/subscriber to voice the options you set in the menu (i.e. "For sales, press 1, for accounting press 2...").

"Prompts" are prerecorded system files used to create the conversations. "Greetings" are user recorded files for call handlers, subscribers, interviewers etc... that are used to customized audio text applications for callers.

Is this what you're talking about?
