SVP server required for wireless phone?

Is it possible to operate one SpectraLink wireless phone and one wireless NIC without SpectraLink SVP server? It's not clear for me if the SVP server is required for operation or it's only required for QoS with 802.11b if there are many wireless clients.

In early 2002 the standard 802.11e will be released, after updating the wireless phones and the access points the SVP server could be removed, is this correct?

You need SVP Server until 802.11e is released.

After 802.11e you will be able to remove SVP Server.
