Hi!

I would like know which switches and routers support one/both protocols.(19xx/29xx_xl/xl-a/en.....)

Is it true that only Fast Ethernet on routers are able to do isl trunk ?

And about 802.1Q ?

Where I can find these information on CCO, because I looked for but I couldn't find it.

Thanks

Marcelo

hi marcelo,

You question is too general. Even switches support them on some line cards and not on the other and XLs need specific memory requirements. Newer switches almost always support them (alteast one of them, like Cat4k support only dot1q currently)

Routers needs specific software feature set and version to support these features.

Fastethernet is required in most cases for trunking.

These URLs comes close to what you are looking for

http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/473/24.shtml

http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/473/50.shtml

The best way is to search CCO with specific keywords and you can find the support easily.

If you need it on a specific platform and if you can't find them then let us know.

Thank you by the answer.

Two more things:

- Then I can't use a 4000 or 4000M to route ISL or 802.1Q

- If I have ws-1924-xl-a, can I do a upgrade to enterprise software ? Do you think that I'll be able to configure ISL AND 802.1q

Thanks

Marcelo
