I am rebuilding a token ring network with Cisco switches and routers, our plan at first was to have only one 4006 switch, with closets carrying 3548 linked with fiber. Recently someone mentioned that the 4006 switch wouldn't be good enough to run the network and sugguested two. We were only going to put 2 cards in it and there would be 5 closets with around 300 nodes. Should I start with 2 4006's?

Is it a flat layer 2 network ?

Yes, I believe so, the 4006 would have one 6 port fiber card and one multiport ethernet 10/100 card. 5 of the 6 fiber ports will go to 3548's and the last fiber is for a Sql server. The 3548's are going straight to the nodes.
