i've just setup an full switching LAN environment in a company which is still using novell as their primary server.

i already enable the portfast on all port but sometimes it can log in but sometimes they wont.

usually after resetting the portfast to disable and then enable again it can fix the problem.

can anyone tell me about how to setup a IPX environment on cat35xl ?

Regards

Inghau

Porfast is all I can think of. Make sure speed/duplex is good and there is no packet loss from source to destiation.

mmm i already enable the portfast in all port.

but sometimes it still happening.

besides the portfast is there any other possibilities that might cause this ?

Novell server or the NIC driver perhaps ?

Client's OS ?

Thanks

Hello,

It has been my experience that at this point in your PD process a sniffer would be your most valuable tool.

sniffer trace would help. also make sure you don't have any know nic card issues mentioned here

http://www.cisco.com/warp/customer/473/46.html#NIC

I have seen issues with some xircom nic cards which send out packets before the link stabilize.

mm sorry but i can't understand PD process ?

i have a sniffer program from www.ethereal.com

and i don't understand what to sniff here.

can you please share with me your experience with this problem ?

thanks a lot
