route between protected ports

Hey all, I'm trying to get two port-protected ports on a 2900xl to talk to each other via the 2514 e0 port that the switch is attached to. SO far I've tried proxy-arp and static routes but I still can't ping across it. Has anyone done this? I seem to be trying to do exactly what was intended by this feature but I can't get it to work.

Nevermind I figured it out myself. I guess the question WAS too hard for the folks on this list.
