Idle URL: Turn Off/On Trick?

We have IDLE URL working fine - it's great - HOWEVER....

We really only want to use it for annoucnements - is there a way to put a special XML instruction in the XML file durin all non-emergencies that instructs the phone that there's no file available and to check back in 60 seconds again (so that our users don't always have to be staring at a blank screen or image except when there's news (basically so the IDLE URL will actually be noticed when it's there instead of getting used to it and ignoring it...

removing the file referenced in idle url still loads up blank rather than just goin back to the line appearance display - it'd be awesome if the firmware or whatever could just be programmed to ignore the idle url if it wasn't there - any other approaches to the same problem?

Since there has been no response to your post, it appears to be either too complex or too rare an issue for other forum members to assist you. You dont need to uses Idle URL, you can do a HTTP Post to the phones on your network (each phone has a web server on it, you can send information to the phone and it will be show on the screen)using ASP or ColdFusion of any application that can send HTTP Post (you could uses IE, but it would be a pain). Do you want me to send you a e.g.?

Please could you send me an example at anthony.warren@medway.gov.uk

Many thanks,

Anthony Warren

Please send us an example too.

Wow - It looks like I late to my own party on this one - I sure would love and example :-)

kenjohnson@letu.edu would be great.

Thanks!

HI,

I am using the http post for a while, I can also open a rtprx/rtptx via a http post. But is there a way to post to everybody at once? I tried to broadcast but that is not working. So if you have 800 phones ( a customer of ours) than you can't do it manually.

I hope you, or someone else has a tip for me!

Regards,

Sascha

We keep getting Cisco Error 4 Authentication errors trying to use the template...

We're using AD integrated directory and the same user that logs into CCMUser and is associated with the phone...

Any ideas?
