There is an IP address that I can ping to from my router but cant ping from my PC. However, tracert to that address can be done successfully from my PC. Does anyone know why this problem occurs?

Thankyou very much

I found out that Ping can be done if i increase the ping delay to 2000ms, there is a serious delay of pinging to the IP address of around 1500ms. However pinging from the router only around 380ms. Can anyone tell me how come there is such a huge delay on the ethernet interface?

Check to see if there is some encyption between the hosts on your LAN and hosts on the LAN that you were trying to ping. Often VPN's work slower especially on older routers. If that is not the case, then check both sides ethernet configs, MTU,....

Hope this helps

This delay could be due to the high network traffic in the n/w where the PC is connected.

If both the router & PC are in the same network, the CPU utilization will cause the delay.

check the CPU utilization in your PC. Also check any of the intermediate devices are configured

with ACLs.
