Restricting bandwidth on switch ports (3548XL)

Is it possible to restict the bandwidth through the ports on a switch?

I have never seen that ability to do that on any layer 2 switch or than the individual port speed settings.

Hi

I beleive you can do all sorts of things like rate-limit, ACLS, MLS on the 3550's which are superseeding the 3548's. The rate-limit command can be applied to the switch ports. They cost about the same too.

3548 will not be able to limit bandwidth and 3550 would be able to do it with policing function as well as class-based policing.
