Bootp to assign ip addresses to switches 1900 and 2924

As I was told on my previous post. I configured dhcp/bootp to assign some reserved IPs to switches that have no configuration yet, then I could telnet, and get the model # and serial # which we need for inventory. but the bootp is not assigning those ips. Also the bootp server is asking me for Unique Identifier, How do I get that for all the switches. I usually assign the ip manually to vlan interface. does the bootp server assign the ip to vlan interface as well, or which interface??

If you can already assigned ip addresses to your switches, you don't need to use bootp to assign them ip addresses, rather you can use an SNMP application and poll the serial #s. Bootp will only function if the switch config is reset (clear config all) or it is the first time configuration.
