Sub-interfaces flapping on Cisco 7500

We have 7500 series routers (below please find “sh ver”), when we add a new subinterface some (if not all) of the existing subinterfaces on the same physical interface flap (go down and then up again), is this something normal, and if not what need to be done to fix this.

This is not normal. It looks like you are running an Experimental

version of code. I'd say it is time to upgrade.

I saw this same behavior on the 7206VXR slot 0 I/O ports. If a network address were added or changed on the interface or one of its subinterfaces, the interface would "bounce". It also occurred when routing a protocol was enabled or disabled in the slot 0 interface. It turned out to be a code issue that reset the interface when a change was made. Yours is a different hardware platform but it may be a similar thing. If it is a problem you may want to open a TAC case.
