Problems Enabling RSVP

I am having problems enabling RSVP on a pair of 3640's connected via a hdlc ptp link.

Having entered the commands

Global - call rsvp-sync

Interface - bandwidth 32

Interface - ip rsvp bandwidth 24 24

Interface - fair-queue 64 16 1

Dial-peer - req-qos guaranteed-delay

Dial-peer - acc-qos guaranteed-delay

I just get engaged calls, the RSVP show commands do not show any reservations!

When ever you enable RSVP and req-qos, please make

sure that enough bandwidth is reserved for the voice call,

else call will be dropped.

You've reserved 24Kbps while g729 codec used 26bps for one

vocie call i.e over that the reservable bandwidth and

since req-QOS guaranteed-delay means:-

RSVP reserves bandwidth and guarantees a minimum bit rate and preferential

queuing if the bandwidth reserved is not exceeded i.e RSVP is attempted and if RSVP

fails, the call is released.

Try increasing the reserved bandwidht which in your caes would be more than 75% of 32kbps total interface bandwidth.

Solution increase interface bandwidht first and recalculate the 75% which should be far higher than 26Kbps at least for one voice call.
