Hello all,

I have noticed that manually resetting DSL modem cards in a DSLAM chassis will often resolve service outages for individual DSL CPEs out in the field. This manual reset involves simply pulling the card out of the chassis slot and reinserting it back into the chassis again. This technique often resolves problems where individual CPE modems lose their sync and teir connectivity had failed.

So, while I'm clear about what the solution is, I'm looking for some suggestions on what the problem cause could be. In other words, what are some probable causes for a DSL CPE modem losing sync and that is correctable by resetting the card in the DSLAM chassis? It's ideas as to possible causes for the problem that I'm after here. Any input would be greatly appreciated!
