Can IOS 12.1 set port channel with IOS 12.0

Hi,

I have two Ciso switches (but different IOS version 12.0 & 12.1). I want to connect them by EtherChannel. However, the command setting is difference as follows:

In 12.1, the setting is as follows:

int port channel 1

switch mode trunk

int fast 0/24

switch mode trunk

channel-group 1 mode on

int fast 0/25

switch mode trunk

channel-group 1 mode on

In 12.0,

int fast 0/24

switch mode trunk

port group 1 distribution destination

int fast 0/25

switch mode trunk

port group 1 distribution destination

Does this setting work ? If not, any other way to set.

It should work..Are you having any issues?. Let us know what model switches are these and full software versions you are running

When I tried the setting, I found that port channel was not work. Instead, the spanning tree protocol was used.

Both are Cisco2950C while one IOS is 12.1(6)EAC and another is 12.0(5.3)WC1.

Are those EtherChannel commands compatible ?

Try removing all the config under the interfaces in question, configure the channel with default "source" forwarding method and if this comes up fine trunk over it
