Hello. I just "inherited" a site which has a 3640 router with five 2fx0 VIC's and 1 FEcard. A unity server, and a MCS7835 server and 10 7960 IP phones. Where if any do the FXS VIC's come into play. I am looking to setup the most basic IP telephony network at first. How would I start. Also what roles do the two servers play in this?

thanks for your help

I'm not sure if this takes up too much space to reply, but basically here goes:

FXO cards are your gateway to the Telco, calls are probably being sent out of it.

Unity is the voice mail server

The MCS7835 is the Callmanager server (the brains if you will).

FXS's are for connecting fax machines, old phones or anything needing analog services.

More details about any specific questions would help.
