Hello
I have to install a WS-X6516A-GBIC module in a 6500 switch. Can I configure this GBIC ports to a peed of 10 or 100Mbps? Does the GBIC SX and LX/LH support this speeds too? In the documentation its not very clear.
Thanks,
Rolf

Rolf,
The 6516A is Gig(1000) only I believe.There is a WS-X6516-GE-TX that is capable of 10/100/1000 speeds. If you need a 10/100/1000 capabiltiy you'll need a 10/100/1000 module... Here's a link on these:
Here's information on the 6516 module:
Hope this helps you,
Don

Rolf,
The -GBIC module supports Gigabit Ethernet speeds only. With the proper software it can support the WS-G5483 1000BASE-T GBIC, if you need twisted pair connections vs. fiber optic connections; but it is still Gigabit only. Minimum software required for this on the Catalyst 6000/6500 series switches is CatOS 7.2 and/or Cisco IOS Release 12.1(13)E. (The older WS-G5482 1000BASE-T GBIC is not supported in the Catalyst 6000/6500.)
If you want 10/100/1000 in the chassis, the -GE-TX module Don mentioned is the one you need.
Hope this helps.

Rolf,
Just to answer your question, the Gigabit Ethernet interfaces only support 1000Mbps and Full-duplex. Please take a look at table 2-39 from the link below:

Hope that helps.
