I have a customer that would like to connect Nortel Phones to a Cisco 3524XL Switch. The phones will share a port with the PCs. I configured the port for voice vlan 2. How will the Nortel phone know that is on VLAN 2. I assume the only way is to hard code on each phone. Is there another solution?

Unlike the Cisco IP phones, the Nortel phone does not take advantage of the benifits of VLAN trunking. Rather than accessing an auxillary VLAN, the Nortel phone uses DSCP to mark as priority. You might be able to force a specific VLAN by hard coding on every phone but that can be a management nightmare.

VLAN support is in V1.38 of the i2004 firmware. This firmware is provided in the newest version of IP Line. Make sure you are using version 3.0 of ITG Line. Let me know if you need any assistance.
