alias and conduit command question

Hi there,

I was wondering if someone could explain why Cisco has no support for alias and conduit commands in the pix device manager...

Also can someone explain the benefits of using alternative commands to alias and conduit.

Conduits are being phased out in lieu of access-lists, I guess to make the PIX more IOS-like. Not supporting conduits in PDM is probably the best way to get people to convert to ACL's. If you do want to convert, plug your configuration inot the Output Interpretor (https://www.cisco.com/cgi-bin/Support/OutputInterpreter/home.pl) and it'll do the conversion for you.

The alias command always confused people, and has been replaced with modifications to the "static" command. I don't know that there's an actual performance benfit in doing this, it's just seen as an easier way to do things. Again, not supporting alias in PDM will mean people will convert quicker.
