all our UPS systems use this technology. what can we do?

Any comments, suggestions?

we recently ordered two 6509 with Sup720 and one 6506 with Sup-II.

I would suggest that you not try conecting your CIsco products with any UPS systems that uses ferroresonant technology. Not sure what options you have if all your UPS systems use this technology... I know the Cisco RPS 300 would work.

First, the RPS 300 is not an UPS, it's merely a redundant power supply.

Second, the RPS 300 doesn't work with the C6K that eperez is asking about.

Third, the RPS 300 is announced end-of-life/end-of-sales.

Perhaps a "Line Conditioner" in between may work. Give OneAc a call and talk it over with their Technical Support.

If you decide to try a Line Conditioner, have someone check the power waveform with an Ocilliscope; having that much inductance on the line may somewhat mutilate the power.

Replace the UPS. The ferroresonant UPS's are old and obsolete (IMHO). Probably the most common ferroresonant are Best, APC, and Chloride. The reason they are common is because they are cheap. If you are protecting something like the 6509 with a cheap UPS, you must be crazed. Contact your local rep for either MGE, Powerware, or Liebert for a modern UPS that will eventually save you more money than you spend on it. UPS's today are up to 97% efficient and worth the investment. (Stay away from MGE Comet series)
