Hi All,

we changed a 3550 SMI Switch from SMI to EMI and it works as an EMI.

But if I display show version - there it still shows SMI.

Any Answer to this?

This is set when it ships from Cisco and does not change when you upgrade.

You should refer to the image name to determine if the switch is EMI or SMI, an EMI image contains a 5 (C3550-I5Q3L2-M) whilst an SMI image contains a 9 (C3550-I9Q3L2-M)

Please ignore - I found the solution from a previous request.

The model number will always reflect what the switch shipped with from Cisco i.e. in your case SMI. You can tell that you are running EMI because the image you are loading has the number "5" as in C3550-i5 indicating EMI. If it was SMI it would be C3550-i9.
