We are trying to delete a file from the flash memory of a c3660 running IOS 12.1(5)T:
Cisco Internetwork Operating System Software
IOS (tm) 3600 Software (C3660-IS56I-M), Version 12.1(5)T, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1).
With the command delete <file> we marked "deleted" the file:
System flash directory:
File Length Name/status
1 10682668 c3660-is-mz.121-5.T.bin [deleted]
2 11441980 c3660-is56i-mz.121-5.T.bin
3 468984 mica-modem-pw.2.7.2.0.bin
4 470849 mica-modem-pw.2.7.2.1.bin
5 476630 mica-modem-pw.2.7.4.0.bin
[23541436 bytes used, 10012996 available, 33554432 total]
32768K bytes of processor board System flash (Read/Write)
BUT we don't find the "squeeze" command to free the
space on the flash memory...
How can we permanently delete a single file on the
flash ?
Thank you, best regards.

Is your IOS version is 12.1(15)? Try directly with "squeeze flash" command. Before that take backup of your active flash files to a TFTP server, after squeezing out, copy same files to flash.

My version is 12.1(5)T and there is no squeeze
command at all ..
May be you intend trying with "erase flash" command ?
Thank you.
