I am trying to configure rapid spanning tree on my cisco 2950 switch. The setup is a laser link between 2 buildings.Kind of like a lan extension. So it will have the same instance of spanning tree. The laser is connected to the switch and I have also got a wireless lan connected the same switch as a backup between the 2 buildings.I am trying to configure rapid spanning tree so that if the laser link goes down it will backup onto the wireless link after rapid spanning tree kicks in.CAn someone please give some guidance on how to configure this please?
I cant seem to find any config samples on Cisco's website unless I am looking incorrectly.
Thanks

The command to enable RSTP on a Catalyst 2950, 3550 or 6500 switch is:
Switch(config)#spanning-tree mode rapid-pvst
Per-VLAN RSTP is only supported in
Release 12.1(13)EA1 or later
The following link should be useful:
http://cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/lan/c3550/12113ea1/3550scg/swmstp.htm
Hope this helps,
Rajesh
