The GSS contains an SNMP agent, that enables you to query your GSS devices. SNMP runs on GSS port 161 by default. The configuration of community strings doesn't seem to be documented. use the snmp enable global command to enable snmp on the box.

We actually have this setup on the GSS boxes, but we cannot get our netmanagement systems to completely discover the device due to the community string issue. Do you know if this will be an option in upcoming software releases?

Thanks for the ressponse!

Spencer

Spencer,

here you go :

To configure the community string:

1) in config mode (config)#property set Snmp.CommunityString newString

2) (config)#no snmp enable

3) (config)#snmp enable

Gilles.
