Does anyone know the difference between the following two error messages:
%LINEPROTO-SP-5-UPDOWN: Line protocol on Interface GigabitEthernet2/2, changed state to down
%LINEPROTO-5-UPDOWN: Line protocol on Interface GigabitEthernet2/2, changed state to down

Hi,
Please try using the error decoder tool below. Also, I believe you left out part of the message. You will need the complete message in order to get the proper results.

I guess you are using Native IOS.
With Native IOS you have a switch processor (SP) and a Route Processor (RP).

Both of these commands are from a Cat6500 running native IOS. (sorry for the scaricity of info).
The message decoder tells me that the one without the SP (switch processor) part that data link line protocol changed. However the other message breaks the decoder :
%LINEPROTO-SP-5-UPDOWN: Line protocol on Interface GigabitEthernet1/2, changed state to up
I am troubleshooting a problem and the difference between the link updown message with the SP and without it makes a difference.
