Hello,
Sorry for the stupid question, but I need to know how to find out the MAC address of a specific port. Just to be clear, I don't want to know all the MAC addressses a port knows about, I want to know the actual MAC address assigned to the physical port itself. I know that Cisco assigns MAC addresses for purposes of spanning tree and such. I just need to know the "show" command that will reveal this.
Thanks,
Dave

Dave,
If your switch uses CatOS (i.e. set and clear commands), the command "show module" will show the range of MAC addresses on each module. The first of these addresses goes with the first port, etc. If your switch has Native IOS, the "show interface x/y)" command will show the MAC address of the interface (port) near the top of the data about the port.

Thanks Mark,
I did know this once upon a time, but seem to have forgot. Thanks again.
