RIP authentication on MPLS network

We are running an MPLS network. Our customers router (CE) that connects to the PE runs RIP. We are required by some of customers to implement authentication on RIP.

Our concern is what is the impact to the network when we implement it:-

For example, let say customer XYZ have 5 sites (HQ + 4 branches).

- If we turn on RIP authentication on one of the branches only, branch A, can the rest of the sites still exchange routing info with branch A.

- We also have a MCE router which monitors all our customer's CE router. Can the MCE now monitor branch A (currently with authentication)?

- If the MCE router needs to turn on RIP authentication in order to monitor branch A, does that mean all my customer's routers needs to turn on authentication (as MCE monitors all CEs)?

Appreciate any feedback.

Thanks.

Since RIP authentication is enabled on a per interface basis, enabling authentication within a subset of your routers should work fine. All that is required is that updates coming in via the interface on which authentication has been enabled should be from a router that is configured for authentication too.
