I'm connected to the IDS sensor via serial cable. What commands do i use to display the serial number of the IDS box.
Thanks for your help!

There is not currently a CLI command for viewing the serial number.

Ok...
Then what is the serial number for the IDS devices? Is it the Service Tag # or the Express Service Code from the sticker on the top of the server?

The Service Tag.
The Service Tag and the Serial Number are generally the same.
(Most sensors will have a smaller sticker somewhere else on the sensor with the serial number and you will see it matches the number in the service tag.)

The Service Tag is used for the Serial Number on IDS-4210, -4235, and -4250 appliances. All other Cisco IDS appliances should have a standard Serial Number label on the chassis.
