2500's and Ip Telephones

Unanswered Question

Hi

Whilst I know 2500's are more or less discontinued most of us have a few thousand spare in our network cupboards !

My query is that i Can get IP telephones working very nicely across two recently purchased 2600 routers ( with no QofS as I have loads of bandwidth ) but the phones will not work if I exchange one of the 2600's for a 2500.( I get one-wat Transmission ) The configurations are identical .

I assume that this is because the 2500 is either not listening to all UDP ports or one of the h323 ports . Whilst I could trace this and find out I do not have the time . Does anyone know the answer ?

Thanks

It really sounds like a basic IP routing issue. Have you tried pinging the phones from all routers that are in the end to end path?

If they are acting as a pure IP router, the 2500's will not be looking at TCP or UDP ports - they shoul djust be forwarding packets. So there must be something else going on... Can we see the configs of the 2600's and 2500's to compare them ?
