cat2900,PCs cant ping to each other

fellow networkers

i have a 2900 xl switch..where i cant ping pcs if i put them on 2900 but if i shift them to 1900 .,they all ping..i accept could be a duplex/speed mismatch of ports..i have compaqs, even if i erase all the config..just blank switch..still teh problem persists

If you are sure about the blank switch and having all ports enables auto/auto in the right vlan and are not able to ping even the management interface configured in the same vlan / ip net, i would say it's broken. Some of these switches seem to have faulty components witch could cause these simtoms.

Duplex fault would just show bad troughput but usually not all frames are lost under low traffic conditions, losses start going up if traffic increases.
