Hi,

I have a Cisco 7206 running Cisco IOS 12.2(17a) and it works just fine. When I upgraded to 12.3(3), it kept being resetted by "watchdog hard reset. The system would boot up, and I would get the "Return any key to get started" message, but after about 5 seconds the router would restart and I would get the following message:

Press RETURN to get started!

System Bootstrap, Version 12.1(20000710:044039) [nlaw-121E_npeb 117], DEVELOPMENT SOFTWARE

Copyright (c) 1994-2000 by cisco Systems, Inc.

ROM: Rebooted by watchdog hard reset

C7200 platform with 524288 Kbytes of main memory

The logs didn't show anything specific, except for the short watchdog message. So I was forced to revert back to 12.2(17a).

Does anyone know what might have caused this?

thanks in advance

Looks like a known bug, CSCec14039. The fix only went into one of the latest interims, 12.3(5.8) so you are probably better waiting for 12.3(6).

thank you for your reply.

But as far as I could understand, the CSCEC14039 applies to platforms using NPE-G1, and I am using NPE-400. Does this mean that we are talking about the same bug, or it could be something else?

thanks
