7206 Fastethernet problem

We are trying to cross-connect a 7206 NPE300 router's FastEthernet with another ethernet device. but the line protocol does not come up. We tried to cross-connect the ethernet device to a 3640 router using the same cross-cable and it works.

Are there any settings to configure on the 7206 Fastethernet?

What ethernet device is it? Have you tried a straight through cable?

Well, 7206 Fastethernet works using a straight cable when connected to a switch. But when we tried connecting it to a wireless ethernet interface using a cross-cable it won't come up. We also tried interconnecting it with a Juniper router FAstethernet using a cross-cable but still doesn't work.
