FAX problem with Brother telefax 9000

I have a customer with CCM 3.3(3) and an MRP blade with 16 port FXS. The faxes are plugged into the MRP and they use the MRP PRI. A client out on the PSTN cannot send a FAX to the local FAX machines. The local FAX machines can send to the Brother FAX machines but this is intermittent. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Faxes in-bound never work. They did work a couple weeks ago but then stopped. Any pointers would help. I'm goin go to look at some traces and run some debugs on the gateway while the FAX is being transmitted.

Thanks,

Jason

Hi Jason,

There are some settings under the fax-relay configuration - here you would try to disable fax-relay and set the port to voice calls only. Alot of times the issue is between the various types of error correction mechanisms (ECM) that different fax manufacturers implement. So when you set it to "voice-call" or "voice pass-through" the Cisco gear wont try to negotiate ECM.

Let me know if you have trouble finding these commands under the fax-relay config - I don't have one in front of me.

Cheers,

Erik.
