meaning of "lost carrier" in command # show interface?

Hi,

after having trouble with our pix 515e, we've found

that the command "show interface" shows us

unusual values for "lost carrier". On most interfaces it is zero or one.

Whereas on two interfaces we have values fom 19 und 13. I've attached the # show interface output (except the ip-addresses...).

What exactly does this entry mean?

lost carrier and no carrier—The carrier is an electrical signal that Ethernet devices use to detect whether the wire is currently being used by another transmitting station.

The lost carrier counter increases each time a carrier sense loss occurs. This happens when the hardware is transmitting a frame onto the wire and does not see its own carrier wave on the Ethernet. The absence of the carrier signal increments the no carrier counter.

Thanks for the explanation.

Seems we have to check the cabling and the autonegationting with the switches.
