Hi

A customer has two 6509's linked together. One of them is receiving lots of error messages in the logs.

2004 Feb 06 02:35:48 gmt +00:00 %SYS-3-SYS_LCPERR3:Module 1: Pinnacle #0, Frames with Bad Packet CRC Error (PI_CI_S_PKTCRC_ERR - 0xC7) = 384: Module requires a

2004 Feb 06 02:35:48 gmt +00:00 %SYS-3-SYS_LCPERR3:Module 9: Pinnacle #0, Frames with Bad Packet CRC Error (PI_CI_S_PKTCRC_ERR - 0xC7) = 384: Module requires a

2004 Feb 06 02:35:48 gmt +00:00 %SYS-3-SYS_LCPERR3:Module 9: Pinnacle #1, Frames with Bad Packet CRC Error (PI_CI_S_PKTCRC_ERR - 0xC7) = 384: Module requires a

2004 Feb 06 02:35:49 gmt +00:00 %SYS-3-SYS_LCPERR3:Module 2: Pinnacle #0, Frames with Bad Packet CRC Error (PI_CI_S_PKTCRC_ERR - 0xC7) = 384: Module requires a

2004 Feb 06 02:35:49 gmt +00:00 %SYS-3-SYS_LCPERR3:Module 3: Pinnacle #0, Frames with Bad Packet CRC Error (PI_CI_S_PKTCRC_ERR - 0xC7) = 384: Module requires a

And so on.

The web site suggests a module fault if it only occurs on one module but this appears on all modules. The message ends with the phrase "module requires a" but the message gets truncated so I'm not sure what it's trying to tell us. Anyone else seen similar ?

Regards

Col

open up a TAC case. Message means that there are bad packets on the bus. Usually a bad module. Because the cat6k has a bus architecture, it is possible for one module to send bad packets to the bus resulting in all modules reporting the bad packet crc error.

Open a TAC case and have a TAC engineer assist you in identifying the module that is doing this.
