Help, when we try and do machine builds with CISCO switches any model it will not work. Has anyone had any similar problems with this in the past?
We have tried putting portfast on and taking it off

Is any L3 device involved or are you trying just locally in the same subnet (connected to the same switch ideally)?

it is a 3550 with two vlan's in different subnets on it
however the RIS builds would all take place on the same subnet

Did you try turning of spanning tree on the port the PC's are connected to?
