Cisco 2600 Router Username

I am trying to determine the username for my router. Is there a default username? The previous person left the password but not the username.

By default, there is no username, just a password. Have you tried accessisng the router via the console port using the password that you have,

When I connect via hyperterminal the initial request is for a username: I tried all combinations of usernames.

You will need to perform the following password recovery procedure:

For step 13, replace by the follwing commands:

router(config)#line con 0

router((config-line)#no login
