Can a 3500 switch talk to a 2600 router doing HSRP?

I have a 3500 XL connected to two 2600's running HSRP that won't talk to each other. I have other customers routers connected to this same switch not doing HSRP that work fine. It's a simple config with a vlan. Stupid question; does the 3500 support talking to a router running HSRP?

I assume you mean the 3500 is just the pathway for the 2600s to talk to each other (the 3500 can't be part of a HSRP group because it is layer2 only).

The 3500 shouldn't care about what packets are going across it. You mentioned a VLAN. I'd make sure the switch ports connecting to the 2600s are in the same VLAN. Can you ping the 2600 ethernet port IP from the other 2600? If so, the issue is likely an HSRP misconfiguration.

If you're still having issues, maybe post your interface config of the 2600s routers (IPs removed). Maybe somebody can spot an issue...
