Anyone know of a connector or cable that would allow me to plug a console cable into a usb port on my laptop. I would like to not have to have a usb to serial cable and then the RJ45 to serial converter and then the console cable. Thanks.

Your quandry is just why Cisco has started building USB interfaces into their newer boxes (see 3800 series routers, for example). Even those, however, are initially using USB only for loading files to memory (from a USB fob or such), not for interactive I/O (e.g. console access) in their initaal release. I have heard from my account team that Cisco does intend to start doing the latter, probably sometime next year.
Sorry that doesn't help your situation directly though. :<

There are cable assemblies out there which provide USB to modular RJ45 connections with embedded RS232 modules.
If there is still interest let me know.
