need help configuring bellsouth dsl with my cisco 1700 router

I am new with Cisco, but I want to learn.Can anybody help me with configuring dsl with my 1700 router? I try to call bellsouth , but the only support bellsouth routers.I know with westell modem you need to set with ppoe, but does 1700 have ppoe or just PPP? An explanation would greatly be appreciated. What is the difference with PPPoe and PPP. How do I setup. What WAN protocol do i use and how to configure NAT.
