dears,
i have 2610xm router when i want to define the encapsulation on fastethernet 0/0.1 and 0/0.2 intefaces i didn't find the encpsuation command . and when i want to add ip address i have the following message :
% Configuring IP routing on a LAN subinterface is only allowed if that
subinterface is already configured as part of an IEEE 802.10, IEEE 802.1Q,
or ISL vLAN.

Dot1q encapsulation is not supported in the IP only feature set. A minimum of IP Plus is required to support this feature.
Let me know if I answered your question,

To add to above post, to download IP Plus version, you either need smartnet on your router, or atleast priviliged access to Cisco Software center (CCO Login) if you have smartnet on similar products. Or else you can buy the IP Plus IOS for a couple of 100 dollars.

Hi,
you will need IP Plus to configure encap on sub-interfaces
