Hello,

Since we have installed the CATOS image cat6000-supk8.8-4-5.bin the CPU passed from 15 to 30% used.

I think its because of anew features, but I havent find any docu about this point, Have any body Ideas?

I need a Cisco dcoumentation prove of that for the customer....

Here is what I get when I do sh proc cpu | exclude 0.00

CPU utilization for five seconds: 32.16%

one minute: 32.08%

five minutes: 32.02%

PID Runtime(ms) Invoked uSecs 5Sec 1Min 5Min TTY Process

--- ----------- ---------- -------- ------- ------- ------- --- -------------

1 0 1473184550 0 67.96% 67.00% 67.00% -2 Kernel and Id

10 243376897 2789260248 4000 14.00% 14.92% 14.98% -2 IDLE_Tasks

36 76116364 1394531031 3000 3.22% 3.00% 3.00% -2 GrpManager

71 82962344 1393615572 153000 3.58% 3.00% 3.00% -2 SysLogTask

The CPU was on 15% before the upgrade.

Many thanks in advance.

The IDLE_Tasks process on which you are seeing a slightly higher CPU is actually an enhancement that collects information more effectively on crashinfo files (files generated when there is a crash on the box). This enhancement went into 8.3(x) and 8.4(x)

In the past "IDLE_tasks" processing was not counted and therefore belong to the "kernel and IDLE" process (which as you can see in the show proc cpu) accounts the amount of cpu not being used.
