I am in the process of changing a users telephone to check out an issue with calls dropping the problem I am having is that after changing the Mac address of the unit in CM when I plug the unit in instead of booting up I get an error message stating that the "Application Protocol is Invalid". There is definite net connection as the workstation plugged in there has connectivity. Any idea what this is related to?

Are both phones 7940s? Are you using the SCCP image? The following document has several things to check related to this error. Please see the Protocol Application Invalid Error section.
