failover case

can filover work on PIX 515 using the serial cable only without any addtional

hardware. ( there is two interfases only E0 and E1 )

and if possible pls send to me samlpe of the configuration needed.

Hi seegomaa,

Yes failover can work when only connecting the serial cable, but in this case there will be no stateful failover; this means that no information about the connections that have been established will be shared with the standby unit which will cause active connections to be lost if the primary unit failed.

A sample config with no stateful failover is like:

failover

failover ip address outside 192.168.1.2

failover ip address inside 172.16.1.2
