Now if I just have layer2 connectivity for LAN end to end.

Say LAN1-------WAN-------WAN-------LAN2

The connection is a bridge or layer2 which means no ip address is configured on the Wan. Then how can I access LAN2 from LAN1. Can ip address if connected as a layer2 for data connection have ip addresses

That is very simple. You use the same network addressing scheme for both sites. Take care that networks do not overlap.

[192.168.0.0/24][R1]---/---[R2][192.168.0.0/24]

hosts 1 through 127 hosts 128 through 254

HTH

Do you mean that we can configure ip addresses on the lan if there exist a data link connection from Lan to Lan.

That means ..

R1------------ BRIDGE --------------R2

| no ip on Wan Network |

| |

IP:192.168.1.1/ 192.168.128.1

from R2 I can telnet R1,192.168.1.1 from R2, 192.168.128.1 and connection will be opened

and it will work ...

Thanks in advance

You can avail the above scenario provided you use the same addressing scheme throughout your network.

ie. it has to be in the same subnet.
