CE-PE

We have several CEs connected to a single PE, all these CEs are in the same VPN (VRF) .. We are running OSPF between the CEs and the PE. For some reasons we want to keep all the CE in the same OSPF area (Area 100).. Will that be a problem..

Also,if we have one CE connected to the same PE via dual links, each link will be used for a different VRF. I think we should run two OSPF process on the CE, one for each VRF. Also from PE side, can both VRFs be in the same OSPF area..

Thanks in advance..

Hi Ahmede,

there is no problem with all CE being in the same OSPF area.

With your dual link CE running two OSPF processes: this is also possible. The areas can be the same or different. Be aware however that you will probably need to redistribute on the CE between the two OSPF processes giving you external routes.

Another option would be to have only one OSPF process on this dual homed CE and a separate VRF on the PEs. Connectivity to the rest will be given through proper route-target import/export on the PEs.

The proper solution depends on your exact connectivity requirements (which you didn´t specify clear enough for me).

Regards

Martin
